Job Description

This is a hybrid role, and we are flexible on your location, but there will be 2-3 days per week working from your local office, or other offices around the UK as required.

Our goal at CityFibre is to unlock the digital potential of Britain by creating a broadband network that works seamlessly for everyone, every day. Powerful, gigabit-speed connections that enable people across entire communities to enjoy life in full flow. To do this, we make sure that our people’s voices are heard, their ideas are welcomed, and everyone is given the opportunity to make a real impact.

What you can expect from us

Everyone at CityFibre has an important part to play, and we reflect that in our benefits. With a competitive salary depending on experience + a car allowance, when you join us, you’ll also enjoy 25 days’ holiday, a day off on your birthday, a day off to support a charity or organisation of your choice, a performance-related bonus scheme, and private healthcare.

How you’ll change it up

It’s an exciting time to join us on our journey as we shape the next phase of CityFibre’s build and leave a legacy on the UKs digital infrastructure for years to come.

Working with our Director of Supply Chain, you’ll set and implement the contractor and contracting strategy to optimise the spend in our Network Build division and related activities to deliver optimal value for money. You’ll also develop and lead the engagement of our build contractors to help facilitate the ongoing delivery of full fibre networking in our targeted build areas. Day to day, this is some of what you can expect to be doing:

  • Building, leading, developing and managing a small Pre-Contracts team
  • Running appropriate tender processes that lead to contract awards to build activity, ensuring we’ve achieved best value for money and sustainable contracts
  • Ensuring we meet or exceed contract award timelines for BDUK across our selected lots
  • Maintaining a healthy supply chain for all build related works, engaging with the market to assess and onboard prospective suppliers that may support our build efforts over time
  • Monitoring supply risks and adherence to our procurement policies and procedures
  • Capturing and interpreting data in an accessible way to enable us to drive clear actions for improvement through evaluation and clear processes

We’re looking for people who don’t settle for ‘good enough’ and push things forward. If you’ve just found yourself thinking, ‘I’d love to do this’, we want to hear from you. Let’s change it up.

What you’ll bring to the role

You’ll be an industry recognised expert in the negotiation of NEC3 construction and telecoms specific contracts, with strong experience in supplier and client engagement and being able to influence positive outcomes through relationship building. You’ll also bring the following with you:

  • A track record leading a successful team in a fast paced and agile environment
  • Ability to develop new commercial approaches
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, encouraging partnering, shared risk and collaboration to support high performing projects and outputs
  • Experience setting up and running efficient on-boarding and tender award processes
  • Experience in delivering large construction projects

Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

CityFibre is working hard to change up the telecoms industry. This means we’re committed to providing equal opportunities to people from all backgrounds and commitments, including your carer and family status, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, gender and gender identity. We’re also offering training programmes and placement opportunities to support the skilled, career changers, service-leavers, and returning workers to become part of our teams.
