We are trusted advisors in the IT service industry with over 20 years’ experience in managing our customers operations and support environments.

As Business Development Manager, you will be joining a new business development team and working closely with the Sales Lead .Priority focus will be around developing business opportunities from new customers whilst managing the growth requirements from established key accounts. 

We have a network of offices throughout the UK and whilst this role will be primarily based from our Aberdeen office it will support a hybrid working pattern to support an optimal work-life balance.

Here are the key skills and experience relevant to this role:

  • Work closely with the Sales Lead and Operations Lead, taking our dedicated and flexible modern IT Managed Service proposition to market with a focus on new business development and cross selling to other Sword Group customers.
  • Utilising existing contacts and relationships from your own network.
  • Organising and attending industry customer events.
  • Develop strong professional relationships with prospects and customers to achieve “Trusted Partner” status.
  • Operate within the agreed Account Management processes and governance framework.
  • Engage in a range of sales activities with established and prospective customers to identify, win and retain business, in line with the execution of broader commercial strategy.
  • Lead commercial and technical sales activities through collaborative working with Technical SME, Pre-Sales and Sales Admin/Finance teams.
  • Ownership and Influence of input into the tender response process, ensuring that RFI’s, RFP’s and proposals are delivered in a timely manner and with accurate costing for delivery to a broad range of customers.
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships at multiple levels with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working with internal delivery teams to ensure delivery of high-quality services to customers.

Experience:

  • A demonstrable track record of 5 years prior industry-related business development or senior account management experience – energy sector beneficial.
  • A sound  understanding of IT related service provision with proven track record of managing large and medium complex accounts.
  • Commercially focused, articulate and possess the ability to think strategically.
  • Proven knowledge and execution of successful business development strategies.
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented and target driven.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time-management skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute complex sales and account development strategies.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong time and expectation management skills when coordinating multiple complex sales activities.
  • A background selling to C-Suite, IT Operations Managers, Infrastructure Managers and Network Managers.
