 Overview

b-spokes Deliveries Limited is actively seeking an experienced Operational Site Lead to manage a dynamic parcel distribution depot. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, collaborating with multiple clients, fostering teamwork, and maintaining a strong focus on data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Management:

  • Oversee and optimise daily operations at the parcel distribution depot, ensuring efficient and timely parcel processing, loading, and delivery.
  • Effectively manage resources, including personnel, equipment, and facilities, to meet operational demands.
  • Implement and monitor standard operating procedures to enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Deliver and improve upon key operational metrics, performance indicators and service levels.
  • Communicate operational performance effectively, internally and to clients.
  • Implement appropriate Health & Safety and security procedures and ensure they are always adhered to.

2. People Management:

  • Oversee the onboarding and training of new team members and drivers.
  • Guide direct reports’ personal development through regular 1-1 meetings, setting clear expectations and holding team accountable to targets.
  • Effectively manage drivers’ performance to Key Performance Indicators.
  • Foster an environment whereby all employees embody b-spokes values and hold team to a high standard of conduct.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement measures to promote a safe working environment.

3. Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with multiple clients, addressing their specific needs and ensuring high service levels.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their operational requirements and tailor services accordingly.

4. Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Work collaboratively with depot managers in other locations, other departments within b-spokes (e.g. Fleet, Recruitment, Finance) and senior management to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to depot staff, fostering a positive and results-driven work environment.

5. Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilise data-driven insights to identify areas for operational improvement and implement strategies to enhance performance.
  • Prepare regular reports on key operational metrics and performance indicators.

6. Continuous Improvement:

  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and implement initiatives to enhance overall depot efficiency.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices, integrating relevant advancements into depot operations.

7. Problem Resolution:

  • Address operational challenges promptly and implement corrective actions to minimise disruptions.
  • Act as a point of contact for escalations and ensure timely resolution of issues.

Requirements

Including:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field would be desirable.
  • Proven experience in operational management within the parcel delivery or logistics industry is essential.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Exceptional organisational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and utilisation of analytics tools.
  • IT literate, with a good working knowledge of the MS products in particular Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, and senior management
