Job Title: 3rd Line IT Engineer

Salary:   £38000 - £42,000 BOE

About the role

This is a senior role with our IT SME team. As such, you will be a key resource in helping the team and the organisation deliver our IT products and services into our diverse customer base. We are looking for an all rounder who is passionate about helping and supporting their colleagues along with providing a world class IT offering. You will be comfortable working directly with our sales colleagues and customers, dealing with customer tickets and escalations and equally at home creating, configuring and deploying solutions based on our IT products and services. You will play a key role as part of the leadership team and take on accountability for building and moulding a successful and high performing

What you will be doing:

  • Administering, deploying and configuring Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 to 2022 including Active Directory and Group Policy creation
  • Administering, deploying and configuring Microsoft Exchange Server from 2003 through to 2019
  • Leading on the understanding, delivery and support of our core IT products and services
  • Provide technical support to our user base, both remotely or on-site as required
  • Attending sites to assist in the implementation and installation of new IT platforms
  • Supporting our sales teams with the technical aspects of our sales opportunities
  • Supporting the project delivery process
  • To Provide training for other members of the team and act as a mentor to more junior members of the Service Desk team.  
  • To ensure resolutions are provided to customers and root cause analysis conducted. 

Requirements

What do we need from you?        

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and networking.
  • Strong technical skills in Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, VMWare, Citrix, and networking technologies.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as Azure or AWS
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in an ITIL-based environment is preferred.
  • Full and valid UK driver’s license  

 

Essential:

  • Server Operating Systems including Server 2003 through to server 2022
  • O365 administration
  • Server Virtualisation Environments such as Microsoft Azure, Hyper-V / VMware
  • Server Hardware configuration and recommendation
  • LAN and WAN switching configuration and trouble shooting
  • Windows desktop operating systems
  • Firewalling (Watchguard, Fortigate, Barracuda or ASA) /VLAN Experience / router and connectivity troubleshooting)
  • PC hardware and Printer hardware
  • WIFI – Ubiquiti or Meraki
  • Sound IP troubleshooting skills including DHCP, DNS, IP addressing
  • An understanding of Microsoft cloud based products – Office 365 and Azure in particular

 

Desirable:

  • Full Cisco Meraki Stack preferred but not essential
  • Exchange 2003 through to 2019
  • Hosted e-mail Platform – Google Workspace in particular
  • Firewalling (Watchguard, Fortigate, Barracuda or ASA) /VLAN Experience / router and connectivity troubleshooting)
  • A relevant technical qualification
