Location, Aberdeen , UK.

As an Azure Cloud Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team of Engineers, Consultants, and Architects involved in critical strategic projects. This role is ideal for an experienced cloud engineer who is experienced in working with Azure, specialising in automation and on-prem migrations/data-centre moves.

Key requirement of the role is to work with the Platform and Security Manager to improve ways of working, demonstrated by results such as the level of reliability of infrastructure services:

  • Supports the execution of the IS strategy and roadmap, including developing relevant functional objectives for the area
  • Responsible for leading the administration, support, installation, configuration and troubleshooting of infrastructure hardware and services by defining strategic objectives aligned with business requirements
  • Ensures on-going security, performance, stability, maintenance, and monitoring of the Infrastructure hardware and services
  • Responsible for IT vendor/partner management and delivery assurance
  • Provides technical guidance on infrastructure elements of IT projects
  • Performs system administration tasks on system platforms such as UNIX, Windows, VMWARE, and Cloud based systems that utilize the Enterprise and Cloud storage solutions
  • Administers existing Private, Hybrid, and Public Cloud Storage resources including Block, File, and Object level storage solutions

  • Self-motivated and pro-active with a willingness to go the extra mile to achieve important goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to the IS workforce
  • Proven experience as a subject matter expert in operational infrastructure support and maintenance (including own and cloud data centres) in the oil and gas sector or equivalent, covering systems such server, storage, back-up & recovery, SAAS, PAAS, IAAS and security services
  • Experience and knowledge of cloud infrastructure services including tooling and security
  • Understanding of ITIL practices
  • Ability to think logically and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience implementing packages and working with vendors
  • Cloud Server, Storage & backup and recovery solutions administration including in Azure and AWS environments
  • Automation of workflows, operational processes, capacity management, and system administration tasks using automation tools for example i.e cli, powershell, ansible, terraform
  • Expertise or good working knowledge of key infrastructure applications, such as Citrix, Virtualisation tools etc.
