Health & Safety Advisor / Manager

£200m Turnover – Infrastructure, Concrete Structures & Groundwork Subcontractor

£40,000 - £65,000 + Package (depending on experience)

Glasgow office, with projects around Scotland and the North West – the ability to work from office, sites, and home (hybrid)

About the Opportunity:

As a Health & Safety Advisor/ Manager this role will be partly office based in Glasgow but also cover sites around Scotland and possibly the North West.

Each of the packages this business completes involves infrastructure, concrete frames or structures, and associated groundwork packages that value anything from £10m to £50 million each.

It will be your responsibility to oversee works being carried out while making sure standards and procedures are being maintained, people are working in the correct manner, and training is being incorporated across the board. Your role will report directly to the managing director of this region and the wider Group HSEQ Director.

About the Company:

Like many other contractors in this sector, this organisation was formed by two leading directors from previous businesses that joined forces to create something new. The organisation has grown to encompass a multitude of divisions covering projects across the whole of the UK. From large infrastructure & energy projects in Scotland to the largest reinforced concrete frame & groundwork packages in London, they can offer the experience and capability to deliver to a variety of clients. They have in-house remediation, demolition, groundwork, RC frame, tower crane, and precast divisions that support their project needs.

Having met the owners and directors of this business myself, I would personally like to add that I am truly excited about this business’s future. They have already accomplished so much, but with growth plans already well underway, the future only looks positive for this organisation. Their brand is focused on exceptional service, with quality and safety at the forefront while focusing on maintaining and strengthening the relationships they have with some of the best main contractors, developers, and direct clients across the UK. I have walked away from multiple meetings with this business both excited and impressed and if you meet them too, I am almost willing to guarantee you will feel the same.

About the Requirements:

To qualify for this role, applicants need to have worked for a rival Infrastructure, Groundwork, or RC Frame contractor in Scotland or around the UK in a similar or in this exact role (i.e. must be a health & safety advisor or manager already). Basic qualifications such as NEBOSH will be required and due to the working area, individuals will need to be based in or around Scotland and within a commutable distance of Glasgow.

As our client is looking for long-term/permanent employees, they also look for longevity of employment in applicant’s CVs, so please be aware it will be a disadvantage if you can’t show stable periods of over a couple of years with each employer.

About the Benefits:

For this position, we are targeting individuals looking to earn anywhere from £40,000 to £65,000 per annum (depending on experience).

Specific salary will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis with experience and suitability taken into account. Furthermore, there will be a generous package offered; travel allowance OR company vehicle in addition to company benefits and bonuses.

This role is open to self-employed or PAYE payment methods (including limited company setups).

But aside from the earning potential, this opportunity really does offer the right individual exciting career options with a fantastic organisation.

How to Apply:

I am more than happy to discuss this opportunity with people over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner (you can get to know me while I get to know you). And I know this is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete.

Alternatively, it would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR, nothing will be done with your CV/details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, this may help when we come to talk and discuss the option.

About Me and How I Work:

My name is Andrew Jackson and I am one of the founding directors of Cityscape Recruitment Ltd. I have over 18 years of experience in civil engineering & construction recruitment, during which time, I have specialised in the niche sectors of concrete frames, groundworks, basement construction, and demolition. I also oversee our wider civil engineering team that covers rail, infrastructure, and utilities, and I oversee our sister company Whitelake Recruitment which offers our trades & labour solutions.

I work with the vast majority of the groundwork & concrete frame businesses in the UK and I can help not only introduce you but can give you up-to-date information on each of them, helping you make an informed decision so you can take your career forward. I’ve been doing this for a fair while now and I’ve maintained a positive reputation doing what I do because I don’t tell people whatever it takes, I tell them the truth. My job is to get you the options you want, give you the information you need, and then let you decide what feels right for you.
