HGV Technician Vacancy

Location: Falkirk

Split shift: 40 hours per week  One week earlies, One week lates

Early Monday to Friday 6am – 2pm,  Late 2 – 10pm except Friday 10am – 7pm

I’m currently working with and on behalf of my client to secure qualified, highly skilled and motivated HGV Technicians for their workshop in the Falkirk area.

The company have been in operation for over 30 years starting off as a small partnership to the large limited company they are now offering a wide range maintenance services and solutions to the transport industry. With the nature of the business, the engineering projects, no 2 days are the same with a variety of different jobs to keep any HGV Technician motivated and intrigued.

The role:

Split shift: One week early, one week late

• 40 hours per week, Hourly rate in the region of £16p/h
• Monday to Friday Early 6am – 2pm, Late 2pm – 10pm except Friday, 10am – 7pm
• Overtime available, Weekends 8am – 12 noon, optional not compulsory
• Time and half on Saturday, Double time on Sunday
• Standby and call out fees additional to these rates.

We are looking for qualified and time served HGV Technicians who can demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.

You can expect to be situated in a positive and vibrant working environment where your efforts will be rewarded. A skills shortage can be trained by way of upskilling. What cannot be trained however is the right attitude and the desire to give your clients a first-class service.

You will be carrying out inspections to a varied and diverse fleet.

You could be working on main dealer heavy goods vehicles (HGV’s) road tankers, gritters, RCV’s Refuge vehicles, Diesel and EV vehicles.

The type of work you can expect to be carrying out includes (but is not limited to)

• Routine (and preventative) maintenance
• MOT preparation
• Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards
• 6 (or 8) weekly inspections
• Correction of running defects
• Chassis and fabrication work
• Hydraulics and pneumatics
• Improvement of vehicle standards
• Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections

Requirements:

Ideally you will be fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent.

Additional accreditations such as IRTEC or an EV qualification would be desirable, as would an HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence.
