Senior Practitioner (residential childcare/throughcare aftercare) – Edinburgh based

21 Health & Social Care Limited are recruiting exclusively for a long established and highly regarded provider, who are looking to add a Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner to their well-established Team! The post will be working with Young People aged 15-21 in a Throughcare Aftercare residential setting and will involve support and supervision of a small group of staff, while supporting the Team Leader and being responsible for the running of the House in their absence.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: participation in the provision of a nurturing environment within the House conducive with The Promise to care experienced Young People, working from a relationship-based and rights-focused approach; in collaboration with professional colleagues, to design, implement and review care plans and assessments, working from a strengths based perspective and seeking participation from the young people involved; monthly audits and quality assurance in line with Care Inspectorate guidance; to support and deliver direct work with children, young people and families; structured support and supervision of Residential/Night/Temp staff as agreed with Team Leader, taking place every 4-6 weeks.

Experience and Qualifications

It is desirable for those applying to have a SVQ4 in Care Services Leadership & Management. Ideally applicants will have experience in support & supervision of staff and care management within a residential childcare setting. All applicants of a SVQ3 in Social Services and Healthcare and HNC in Social Services (or equivalent), with significant experience working in residential childcare settings and a sound knowledge of the Children’s Hearing System and legal processes. Applicants should have a sound understanding of The Promise, GIRFEC, UNCRC, and ‘Continuous Care’. Working from a strengths-based trauma-informed perspective with skills in relationship-based practice and de-escalation are required for this role.

Pay Scale

The pay range is 31-37k per year plus enhancements (sleepovers are required for this role).
