Introduction - What's special about us?

Our partner, BAE Systems, are seeking experienced Platers and Fabricators to join their growing Fabrication team in Glasgow on a 12 month contract, offering competitive rates for both locals and those willing to commute from further afield.

As part of a specialist team, you'll be working on the latest generation of naval frigates, the Type 26.

What will I be doing?

  • A skilled person who is assigned to fabricate, assemble and/or install parts of a ship, dependant on their trade, with the aim of delivering the best product possible.
  • Welding different materials (carbon & stainless steel & aluminium) that make up the ship structure using different welding processes :Manual Metal Arc, Meta Inert Gas, Automatic & Semi-Automatic Machine Welding (Submerged - Arc & KAT) & Resistance Welding (Stud Welding).
  • To comply with SHE regulations at all times
  • Fabricating, assembling and installing parts of the ship, dependant on their trade
  • Using a range of hand and mechanical tools and equipment to complete fabrication activities
  • To deploy their skills to the very best of their ability in aid of delivering the highest standard of product possible
  • To maintain positive working relations with team mates
  • Engaging with management in order to improve work productivity
  • Accountable for complying with all new and current work methods, ensuring it is done to the very best of their ability. In doing so, this should produce the best quality product possible, as well as reducing time and waste spent on the job.
  • You're responsible for the work you produce, taking the appropriate actions and decisions in order to meet requirements.
  • You're accountable for your own safety and the safety of others. This involves complying with SHE regulations as well as communicating with management on any safety concerns you may have. This can be done through verbal or written (take 5) communication. Reducing work related accidents should result in higher work productivity and quality

Pay rates

BAE Systems offers a range of payrates for PAYE and Umbrella contractors, depending on your allocated shifts, and the distance you're travelling to reach the Govan site. You can speak to our team to find out more about the shift options by clicking the apply button.

PAYE - If travelling within 39 miles of work location

  • Standard Shift - £17.89 per hour
  • Night Shift - £23.79 per hour
  • Weekday and Saturday OT - £26.84 per hour
  • Sunday - £35.78 per hour
  • Weekend - £23.79 per hour

Umbrella - If travelling within 39 miles of work location

  • Standard shift - £23.25 per hour
  • Night Shift - £30.76 per hour
  • Weekday and Saturday OT - £32.78 per hour
  • Sunday 43.52 per hour
  • Weekend - £30.76 per hour

PAYE - If travelling more than 39 miles to work location

  • Standard Shift - £25.89 per hour
  • Night Shift - £31.79 per hour
  • Weekday and Saturday OT - £26.84 per hour
  • Sunday - £35.78 per hour
  • Weekend - £31.79 per hour

Umbrella - If travelling more than 39 miles to work location

  • Standard Shift - £33.65 per hour
  • Night Shift - £41.15 per hour
  • Weekday and Saturday OT - £33.01 per hour
  • Sunday - £43.75 per hour
  • Weekend - £41.15 per hour
