APPROVALS / CERTIFICATION ENGINEER
BASED CUMBERNAULD PERMANENT ROLE, SALARY EXCELLENT PLUS BENEFITS (HYBRID WORKING)
 
Based in Cumbernauld, ESS’s client is a highly successful organisation, part of a leading global technology company opening a brand new production facility. They are at the forefront of the design and manufacture of next generation measurement and instrumentation equipment, such as Gas Analysis products, including Gas Chromatographs, Process Gas Analysers, and Laser Gas Analysers. 
  
In this role you will support the certification and approvals for the portfolio of products produced at the Cumbernauld factory. This includes identification of relevant approvals for the range of products, running the approval process by developing and maintaining an approvals' plan, collaborating closely with the appropriate bodies, and developing documentation packages, test reports and supporting external testing. Responsibilities:
  • Identify work required to gain approvals, including any gaps and/or unknowns in product portfolio. Produce written test plans, technical reports, and recommendations. Perform pre-testing of products for safety and performance compliance as required
  • Work with the Engineering team to clarify certification and approvals standards and design approaches to meet those requirements. Support global sales teams with technical information to achieve targeted metrology, legal and customer approvals
  • Work directly with notified bodies to identify and clarify requirements for product and/or application approval, reviewing standards and documentation as appropriate. Interpret applicable regulatory requirements, as appropriate, and apply requirements to the products, documentation, and processes
  • Compile / develop documentation packages for approvals and handle the document approval cycle (transmittal dates, approval code etc). Participate in NPD and Engineering Change Order processes and process compliance to product approvals
  • Support activities related to maintaining the factory’s Ex Quality Management System and internal and external factory audits.
  • Support / coordinate with manufacturing activities to ensure product approval compliance
  • Handle relationship with the Product Environmental Compliance team to ensure all products are ROHS and REACH compliant
Ideally you will have a degree in an appropriate Engineering field, Mechanical or Electrical advantageous with some experience in certification and approval projects with certifying bodies.  A solid understanding of global product certification standards, including CE mark, ATEX, CSA, UL, UKCA, EMC, and Metrology, design experience for industrial applications and hands on lab experience would also be advantageous.  Occasional travel may be required, for training, product testing, or customer support.  Working knowledge of standard office software tools, knowledge of ATEX and or other international hazardous area standards would also be great although not essential.
