Established in 1999, MCL Medics is a UK-accredited national offshore medic service provider, specialising in delivering first-class medical care in challenging offshore environments. We are currently seeking skilled Offshore Medics who are proficient in both emergency responses and routine health surveillance. As a key member of our team, you'll ensure the safety, wellbeing, and efficiency of offshore staff.

Main objectives

The Offshore Medic shall act as the primary source of medical advice on the installation for any personnel suffering from illness or injury. They shall be capable of exercising appropriate and competent medical skills in the event of an injury or acute illness, providing advice, and consulting with onshore management.

Duties

  • Provide 24 hour on-site medical care to all installation personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with clients' current Health, Safety and Environmental practices and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient medical records and ill health/incident reporting in accordance with MCL Medics Medical Standard Operation Procedures.
  • Diagnosis and initiate treatment of illness on-site as per MCL Medics Medical Standard Operation Procedures, including initiation of prescription medications, (in consultation with the Topside Doctor); this may include acute medical and surgical conditions requiring immediate skilled treatment.
  • Provide initial emergency response, resuscitation, and stabilisation of critically ill or injured (trauma) patients, utilising ALS/ATLS emergency medical protocols.
  • Communicate and provide details to the Topside Doctor for the management and treatment of medevac cases providing appropriate referral documentation for injured or ill personnel requiring medevac and liaise with logistics personnel to arrange safe transfer onshore to receive further medical treatment.
  • Order, maintain and control adequate stocks of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals in the sickbay, as per MSOPs, the Company’s drug formulary and/or as directed by the Medical Advisor.
  • Ensure appropriate distribution and storage of medical supplies around the installation and sickbay. Dispose of clinical waste correctly and in line with clinical waste protocols.
  • Assist in the planning of emergency procedures to ensure an appropriate first-line medical response to any emergency situations.
  • Actively participate in the asset’s emergency response for major medical incidents, including participation in medical exercises and the refresher training of first-aid teams and stretcher parties on the Client Asset’s Emergency Response Plan.
  • Conduct non certificated first aid training with the First Aiders, and casualty handling with Stretcher Teams using the MCL Medics first-aid training template.
  • Complete periodic potable water testing and take routine water samples for chemical and microbiological analyses, as per the Company’s procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete regular hygiene inspections of the galley and accommodation using the Client hygiene template, in accordance with Company procedures, maintain records on site and regularly review catering company food safety management systems.
  • Maintain all first aid and eye wash stations throughout the installation/site and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete regular inspection and maintenance tasks on the condition of medical emergency equipment, as stipulated in Client’s procedures and the planned maintenance system requirements.
  • Monitor progress and implementation of occupational health corrective actions arising from site related incidents.
  • Maintain complete and accurate written and computerised records.
  • Contribute to site ‘Toolbox Talks’ and safety behavioural initiatives.
  • Organise and participate in health surveillance programs for employees who may be at risk, in line with the Client’s occupational health policies and procedures and maintain appropriate records.
  • Assist the HSE team where required with Health & Safety duties

Minimum qualifications and training:

  • Registered Nurse with at least 3-years post-graduation experience; HCPC Registered Paramedic; Combat Medical Technician Class 1 (CMT1); Royal Navy Assistant; Royal Air Force Medical Assistant; Royal Fleet Auxiliary Services Medical Technician.
  • HSE (Health and Safety Executive) approved Offshore Medics certificate.
