We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fibre Engineer to work within our team in Livingston to support our Fibre and Data Division

We require a Fibre Engineer to join our well-established team, serving our renewable and HV clients across the UK.

You will be expected to work well on your own initiative and as part of a team. With a proactive outlook and ability to work safely at all times, successful candidates will also possess effective communication skills with the ability to communicate verbally with colleagues and client representatives, providing a professional service that meets our clients’ requirements. It is also vital that any applicants are conversant with current regulations and standards and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.

As a Fibre Engineer, You must be a strong team player with a positive and flexible attitude. Should you think you may not fit all of our initial requirements, please note we will provide initial training and development for this role as specific qualifications are mandatory to work in substations and wind turbines, throughout the UK and Europe.

Minimum certification

  • Passport to Safety/ECS card
  • Experienced in splicing and testing fibre optics to a good level
  • On site training and certification will be provided as relevant
  • Hourly rate £18-20/hr depending on experience

Key Tasks

  • Install, Terminate and Test of Internal & External Fibre Optic Cable
  • Competence in OTDR, power source and light meter testing
  • Fibre Optic Jointing
  • Pulling and installing FO Cable into cable management systems
  • Building/Installing of FO termination boxes and enclosures

 Skills

  • Knowledge of telecommunications
  • Ability to use your initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills   

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Telecommunication Systems
  • Clean Driving Licence
  • Physically Fit & Healthy – Medical will be required  (Chester Step Test) (CST)
  • Ability to work at heights and outdoors in all weathers

Essential requirements

  • Full valid UK drivers licence
  • Industry recognised trade or professional qualification or time served.
  • Track record of project engineering high value Fibre Optic fast paced projects.
