Venari Finance are delighted to be partnered with our key client in East Kilbride as they go to market for a newly created Payroll Assistant.

The role will report directly into the Group Payroll Manager and will join the business as it embarks on an exiting period of change in the finance team.

Role Description & Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation, processing and distribution of payroll for all hotel staff, including hourly and salaried employees
  • Ensure timely and correct payments of wages, salaries and other compensation elements
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure data accuracy by verifying timesheets, attendance records, and other relevant documents.
  • Ensure compliance with UK payroll laws and regulations, including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and other statutory deductions
  • Respond to payroll enquiries from employees, Finance and Managers regarding pay, taxes, deductions and other related matters in a timely and professional manner
  • Generate payroll reports for management review
  • Assist in the implementation of payroll software updates and improvements to streamline processes
  • Work closely with the Group Payroll Manager with the transformation of the payroll function.

Person requirements:

  • Should possess high standards and excellent communication skills, along with the confidence to influence and challenge strategy.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a payroll environment
  • Hotel industry experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Experience of working in a large scale and complex environment highly desirable
  • Experience in maintaining data to a high level of accuracy
  • A self-motivated and proactive individual with the ability to work autonomously and create processes from scratch
  • Computer literate with strong systems skills including Excel
  • Stays updated with changes in payroll legislation
  • Able to identify and suggest improvements to payroll processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy
