Job Description 

We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join the culinary team of an iconic venue located in Greenock Waterfront. As Sous Chef, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and creative environment, creating exceptional culinary experiences for guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in managing all aspects of the kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation, cooking, and plating of menu items in accordance with established recipes and guidelines.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring a smooth workflow and adherence to culinary standards and health/safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and seasonal specials, considering guest preferences and dietary restrictions.
  • Monitor food inventory levels, order supplies, and maintain proper stock rotation to minimize waste and maximize freshness.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including equipment maintenance and sanitation.
  • Uphold a positive and professional work environment, fostering teamwork and open communication.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an equivalent role in a high-volume, upscale hotel or restaurant.
  • Strong culinary skills and a thorough knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
  • A passion for food and a creative approach to menu development.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
