You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • The Business Partner to the Commercial Bakery lead and to the manufacturing sites for all agreed projects that he/she supports.
  • Responsible for delivery of the bakery product development plan, inline with the commercial deliverables and operational capabilities, and agreed resource allocations.
  • Lead a team of product developers using clear performance management protocols, creating an environment of creative working, positive performance and positive accountability.
  • Train, upskill team in bakery and ingredient expertise and define key technical challenges to be overcome to meet current and future business needs, identifying and delivering key Simply Clever points of product differentiation.
  • Create a world class bakery development facility to enable concepts to be translated into commercially viable products, scaled flawlessly, with approved specifications for ingredients, products and processes and manufacturing protocols adhered to.
  • Ensure completion of development and commercialization success criteria in execution of project work using accepted documentation an  work processes.
  • Responsible to ensure project documentation and learning and gatekeeping documents are shared across technical community in a timely manner.
  • Experienced technical leader, with proven ability to anticipate and overcome technical challenges and in identifying and managin  technical risk with sound technical decision making.
  • Ensure product integrity including IPis protected and that all GDPR regulations are maintained concerning sensitive information.
  • With a focus on the environment and B-Corp accreditation, all product development decision-making has sustainability at the forefront of decision-making.

What's required?

  • Excellent knowledge of the FMCG / Food manufacturing industry and product development technologies. Knowledge of the baking industry is essential.
  • Proven delivery of complex, technically challenging food and/or packaging development projects involving cross-functional teams and proactive risk management.
  • Collaborative working with purchasing, operations, quality, marketing and commercial teams
  • Bakery expertise & proven ability to use consumer and technical insight to define & craft winning attributes into design. Good understanding of ingredient functionality.
  • Awareness of competitor products, consumer trends, supplier capability and IP protection.
  • Good general supply chain and commercial understanding
  • Knowledge of sustainable packaging and ingredient technology solutions.
  • Genuine love of/affinity with food
