My client a leading Engineering organisation have an opening for a Fabrication Workshop Manager to join their expanding operations in a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:


To undertake management of the day-to-day operations within an accredited Welding & Fabrication Facility as follows;

  • Review of Technical and Contractual Requirements: The RWC must thoroughly review technical specifications and contractual obligations related to welding activities.
  • Sub-contract Activities: The RWC oversees any subcontracting of welding work, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Qualification of Welding Procedures, Welders & Welding Operators: The RWC ensures that welding procedures, welders, and welding operators are qualified and meet the necessary standards.
  • Development & Review of Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS): The RWC is responsible for creating and reviewing WPS documents, which outline the welding process parameters.
  • Equipment Suitability, Maintenance & Calibration: The RWC ensures that welding equipment is suitable, well-maintained, and properly calibrated.
  • Production Planning: The RWC collaborates with project teams to plan welding activities efficiently.
  • Selection, Suitability, and Control of Materials & Welding Consumables: The RWC ensures that materials and consumables used in welding meet the required standards.
  • Inspection and Testing: The RWC oversees inspections and testing before, during, and after welding to verify quality.
  • Health & Safety: The RWC promotes safety practices and compliance with health and safety regulations in welding operations.
  • Understanding Welding Defects: The RWC identifies root causes of welding defects, implements preventive measures, and takes remedial actions when necessary.
  • Knowledge of Welding Metallurgy: Understanding the metallurgical aspects of welding, especially for carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Interpreting Welding Symbols: The RWC should be familiar with welding symbols used in engineering drawings.
  • Certification and Compliance: The RWC ensures compliance with standards such as BS EN 1090 and EN ISO 3834.
