Enable, established in 1954, is one of the fastest growing human rights charities in the UK and one of the 40 largest non-public sector employers in Scotland, employing 2,500 staff, with 12,000 members and supporters, and actively supporting over 13,000 people to live independently as active citizens in their local communities. Enable Works, the employability arm of Enable, is the largest specialist provider of employability, skills and training services in Scotland. Our goal is to create a more equitable society where everyone has fair and equal opportunities to gain and sustain employment.
Enable Works believes in providing every individual in Scotland with the opportunity to have a high-quality, well-paid career. They support over 7000 people annually across 29 Scottish Local Authorities to acquire skills for employment and move about 1000 people into work every year. Their client interactions occur in various settings, including schools, universities, and the community. Enable Works collaborate with thousands of employers each year, to foster inclusive cultures and enhance Scotland's workforce diversity. They are driven to challenge perceptions of disability and unlock potential.
Why Enable Works is needed
Disabled individuals face significant employment barriers and are underrepresented in Scotland's workforce. The Disability Employment Gap in Scotland stands at 31.2%, the highest in the UK. For those with learning disabilities, the employment rate is estimated to be as low as 4%.
Even when employed, disabled individuals encounter significant disadvantages, earning only 83p for every pound earned by non-disabled peers. Enable Works aims to change this by ensuring everyone capable and desiring to work receives the support and opportunities necessary to achieve the career of their choice.
The Role
Enable Works are looking for an Education & Skills Manager to join their dynamic team. As the Education & Skills Manager at Enable Works, you will be a key leader in delivering transformative education and skills programs for young disabled people across Scotland.
You will drive the continuous improvement of learning outcomes, while also overseeing the strategic development and performance management of your region. Leading a team of Employment Coordinators, you will ensure that our services meet the highest standards of quality and compliance, with a focus on client-centred decision-making.
You will build strong relationships with local and national funders, ensuring effective contract delivery and the achievement of key objectives. In addition, you will actively seek out and develop new business opportunities, working closely with the Head of Employability to expand Enable Work’s services and impact. Your role will also involve shaping policies that support disabled individuals, managing regional finances, and contributing to the overall growth and success of Enable Works.
