Enable, established in 1954, is one of the fastest growing human rights charities in the UK and one of the 40 largest non-public sector employers in Scotland, employing 2,500 staff, with 12,000 members and supporters, and actively supporting over 13,000 people to live independently as active citizens in their local communities. Enable Works, the employability arm of Enable, is the largest specialist provider of employability, skills and training services in Scotland. Our goal is to create a more equitable society where everyone has fair and equal opportunities to gain and sustain employment.

Enable Works believes in providing every individual in Scotland with the opportunity to have a high-quality, well-paid career. They support over 7000 people annually across 29 Scottish Local Authorities to acquire skills for employment and move about 1000 people into work every year. Their client interactions occur in various settings, including schools, universities, and the community. Enable Works collaborate with thousands of employers each year, to foster inclusive cultures and enhance Scotland's workforce diversity. They are driven to challenge perceptions of disability and unlock potential.

Why Enable Works is needed

Disabled people face significant employment barriers and are underrepresented in Scotland's workforce. The Disability Employment Gap in Scotland stands at 31.2%, the highest in the UK. For those with learning disabilities, the employment rate is estimated to be as low as 4%.

Even when employed, disabled people encounter significant disadvantages, earning only 83p for every pound earned by non-disabled peers. Enable Works aims to change this by ensuring everyone capable and desiring to work receives the support and opportunities necessary to achieve the career of their choice.

The Role

As an Operations Manager at Enable Works, you will be a key leader driving their mission to provide exceptional employability services for disabled individuals across Scotland. In this role, you will oversee strategic development and performance management across a designated region, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

Leading a team of Performance Managers, Team Leaders, and Employment Coordinators, you will set high standards for service quality and client satisfaction.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring quality and compliance, efficient contract management, and building strong relationships with funders and commissioners to both maintain and secure contracts. Additionally, you will identify and cultivate new business opportunities, contribute to policy influence, and manage regional finances to support our growth and impact. This role requires a strategic vision, strong leadership, and the ability to drive business growth while maintaining financial stability.
