Signalling & Telecoms (S&T) provide cost-effective engineering solutions for railway signalling projects throughout the UK.
As a team we manage the full project life cycle and complete all aspects of design, project engineering, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance support, across all signalling technologies, equipment and systems.
We also provide design, supply, install and test services for operational and lineside telecommunication renewals, either as a single discipline provider, or as part of multidisciplinary project, to ensure end-to-end connectivity. We also offer these capabilities for station information and security systems.
We are currently working on a number of contracts some examples of which include the S&T Framework for NW&C, SP&C Framework in Scotland, TransPennine Route upgrade (TRue) and Train Control System Framework (TCSF) for provision of ETCS.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Telecoms Project Engineers to join our expanding Telecoms engineering team. The role will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to work on a long term high profile programme based in Scotland.
Successful candidate will provide the engineering support to drive the development and delivery of major multidiscipline schemes through the GRIP stages.
As Telecoms Project Engineer you will be responsible for the engineering works ensuring where required, interfaces are coordinated between the different railway disciplines within the project and internally within Volkerrail to ensure design and delivery is achieved to program and budget.
As a key member of the team you will ensure engineering excellence is achieved throughout the life cycle of the project, from pre contract tender input through design and implementation phases through to handover to the client. You will also assist in managing your resources and team effectively to deliver against agreed plans and budgets.
About you
You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are a key requirement for this role. The candidate will also ideally have the following Experience/skill set:
- Technical knowledge of Telecoms Railway Systems and Project Engineering experience in a rail project environment
- Commercial Awareness/ Programme Management Skills
- Ability to produce technical specifications, costs and programme information to support projects/bids.
- Have or willing to undertake CRE duties (under mentorship)
- Hold or be working towards Professional Accreditation
- Experience at team working/collaborating.
- Confident communication skills, both in writing and in internal and external correspondence.
- Competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- PTS
- Full UK Driving Licence
