Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a confident and enthusiastic Reception Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barnet.

This is a full-time, temporary role starting ASAP in June 2026, with the potential to continue into September for the right candidate. The school is a two-form entry primary with approximately 420 pupils aged 4–11 and has consistently been rated Good by Ofsted. Known for its supportive leadership, strong community feel and positive staff culture, it is a great place to work and develop your career.

About the Role

As a Reception Teaching Assistant, you will provide whole-class support within a fantastic Reception year group while delivering targeted interventions, including phonics support. You will also help support pupils with emerging EHCP provision as required.

This role is ideal for a proactive and adaptable Teaching Assistant who can build strong relationships, use their initiative and make a positive contribution to a supportive EYFS team.

Key Responsibilities
• Supporting pupils across Reception with learning and development
• Delivering phonics and other targeted interventions
• Providing whole-class support alongside the class teacher
• Helping children develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits
• Supporting pupils with emerging additional needs and EHCP provision
• Working closely with teachers and other TAs to ensure pupils receive the right support
• Creating a calm, engaging and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

The successful Reception Teaching Assistant will have:

• Previous experience working in EYFS or a primary school setting
• Confidence supporting phonics and early learning
• A proactive, reliable and positive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to use initiative and adapt quickly
• A genuine passion for helping young children thrive
• Experience supporting interventions or additional needs would be beneficial
