The Scottish SPCA, Scotland’s only all animal emergency service, is seeking to recruit a Public Affairs and Strategic Relations Manager to help deliver the Society’s ambitious strategy and vision.

Working alongside the Director of Innovation and Strategic Relations, the Public Affairs and Strategic Relations Manager will play a key role in promoting the activities and profile of the Scottish SPCA within Scotland and further afield when appropriate. This is a great opportunity to lead the engagement approach with Government and influencers, gather political insight and understand key policy developments that impact the Scottish SPCA. The successful candidate will maintain up to date data relating to Parliamentarians, Parliamentary Committees, Government departments, Ministers, civil servants, and special advisors, and develop and implement plans to increase engagement with external stakeholders.  

The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field such as public relations, communications or social or public policy and an in depth understanding of the external political environment and political developments as they affect the Scottish SPCA. With excellent networking skills and a track record of engaging and influencing high level stakeholders, the successful candidate will have experience of developing and implementing effective public affairs strategies and sound knowledge of the workings of government and parliamentary procedure and good political nous.

This a full time role (35 hours per week) and will involve home working with frequent travel required. A full UK manual driving licence is required.
